Fishing Reports

Due to the preponderance of Spam, we have removed the fishing report feature from our website.  Sorry for any inconvenience.  We will try to keep up to date information on our homepage.

Feel free to e-mail us your reports and pictures so we can share them!

June 30, 2008 -- There continues to be good fishing throughout the area.  Flounder are plentiful in the back bays, though most of them are too small to keep.  Stripers are scattered though the back bay as well.  On the surf, they are catching plenty of kingfish on bloodworms and some stripers using fresh clam.  Shark fishing is pretty good 20 to 40 miles offshore - the 300 pound thrasher shown below was caught by Chuck Dougherty of Ambler Pa.  With water temperatures rising, it shouldn't be long before the tuna arrive!

June 15, 2008 -- It was a very good Drumfish season, with two new record catches for Smugglers Cove since 2000 (Congratulations to Becky Cheatham and Rob Hafele!).  There continue to be a lot of flounder caught in the back bays, but most of them are throwbacks.  The other day, one of our rental boats caught about 25 flounder, but only 3 of them were keepers.  Fishing has been good along the banks in the back bay.  Minnows, squid and Gulp baits have all been successful.  They are also catching stripers in the back bays such as the keeper shown below caught by John Ounsworth.

May 29, 2008 -- Over the holiday weekend, there were a number of blues and short flounder caught through the back bays.  Today, one our rental boats caught 5 (short) flounder and loads of bluefish in the 18-inch range.  Drumfish continue to be reported in the Delaware Bay.

May 23, 2008 -- There have been a number of flounder and a few weakfish caught in the back bays on shiners, minnows and gulp baits.  Remember, you can't keep the flounder until tomorrow!  Also in the bays and surf are bluefish and stripers.  Fresh clam and blood worms are popular bait for them.  Finally, they are catching drum on fresh clam in the Delaware Bay.
